I have, for the most part, always been a true believer in the power of positivity. This past winter was a cold one, and with the lack of sun and warmth, I found myself becoming increasingly negative. I had to remind myself how the power of positivity can genuinely impact your life and help you bring your dreams to life. Not to mention, there is no reason why I shouldn’t be celebrating everything in my life. I have watched countless friends and family face challenges in their life that I couldn’t even imagine. With that being said, I am going to share a few tips that can help you live your best life!
Do things that bring you joy
My most significant piece of advice to anyone is to have something in your life that brings you joy. It can be a weekly date night with your spouse, or a Saturday morning bike ride. Mine? It’s getting to be creative, whether that is making videos, writing, or blogging.
When I went through my funk, I found myself doubting my abilities and thinking, why would anyone want to read what I have to write? That is nonsense, even if people don’t read it at least I enjoyed creating it. I have been working on a book for some time now and am very close to finishing it. It helped give me another hobby to focus my time and energy on. I loved getting lost in a story and creating this other world. Turn I can’t into I CAN
We are capable of anything, and yes, that means you! Take a minute and think of all the things in your life you have said no, I can’t do that. I am guilty of it but I’ve decided enough is enough and I am going to turn my I can’t’s into I can’s. It truly is a mindset, and I am a firm believer that your mind is one of the powerful tools you have. Trust me on this one.
Remind yourself every day how proud you are of yourself
Positive affirmations each day is a must! You tell your friends how proud you are of them, why can’t you do that for yourself? You should be your biggest supporter and your BFF. I remember reading once, “would you speak to your BFF the way you are speaking to yourself?” If the answer is no, you need to re-evaluate how you speak to yourself. Start your day by telling yourself one thing you want to accomplish, and one thing you are proud of yourself for. This new mindset will seriously change your life, I promise. I slipped away from this, and today, my goal is to continue down this road and make sure I practice this every day!
Take the negativity out of your life
You should be surrounding yourself with positive people. Straight up, if you are being brought down by your peers or a relationship, please take a moment to reflect on how that is affecting you. Sometimes you have to cut out toxic people to see how it was bringing you down. You should be uplifted by those around you, and most importantly, you should be uplifting yourself. Tell your mom how great of a job she’s doing. Text your friend and let them know you are proud of them for getting through the week. Sometimes all someone needs is a quick text or chat to let them know that you are thinking of them. It goes such a long way.
These are just a few tips that I am trying to implement more into my life. I am hoping by spreading this we can all try to uplift those around us, and in turn, we can all live happy lives. I know, trust me, it sounds corny but screw what others think because at the end of the day YOU are important and you have to take care of you.
